Our new space will allow for more collaboration between research and clinical education.

In late November, our Division of General Medicine & Geriatrics Research Unit, moved to 8th Floor Barnard. Housed in Wohl Hospital at the Washington University School of Medicine campus, our division is now housed in one building yet separated by floors with our clinical unit housed on 7th and research on 8th.
The move for the Research Unit has been a 10-month process with the complete renovations being done to 8th Floor Barnard in order to accommodate our current Research faculty and staff as well as new hires in research.
“It is a lovely new space. I’m happy that the division is closer in geographical proximity, which will allow for more collaboration in the future between research and clinical education,” Dr. Bradley Evanoff, Chief of the Division of General Medicine & Geriatrics, shared.
Brandie Thurman, Assistant to the Chief, shares “after 10 months in transition, it’s so nice to settle into our newly renovated office space. It gives us an opportunity to collaborate, network, and support one another under one roof”.
We’re moving on up.

To celebrate the new move for our research colleagues, a GMG Open House breakfast was held on December 17 on 8th floor Barnard where faculty and staff from clinical and research came together to eat, mingle, celebrate accolades, and check out the new space. The event was paid a visit by Victoria Fraser, MD, Chair of the Department of Medicine for Washington University School of Medicine.
Even though colleagues are still getting settled into the space, as a division, we can’t wait to see what is to come now that we’re all together.
“After much anticipation and planning, the merger of the research and clinical arms of GMG marks a promising new chapter for our division,” Tristan McIntosh, PhD, Assistant Professor of Medicine for Bioethics Research Center and Co-Director of Compass, shares. Kari Baldwin, MSW, Clinical Research Coordinator for Professional & Social Issues Lab, shares she is “looking forward to the whole division working together and getting to know new colleagues we’re not used to seeing”.
