A new research network initiative is being launched by Sunny Lin, PhD, MS, in the Division of General Medicine & Geriatrics – Research Unit.

Age Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) Research Network is a multi-organizational, national effort to bring together researchers engaged in or interested in evaluation and research on Age-Friendly Health Systems, with a focus on the 4M’s (Mobility, Mentation, Medication, & What Matters).

“Our hope is to bring together a diverse community of folks from all different care settings and disciplines,” Dr. Lin shares. “So far, we have members with expertise in nursing homes, electronic medical records, hospitals, etc. from both the public and private sectors nationwide.”

With the research network initiative, Dr. Lin is hoping to recruit WashU researchers and faculty interested in research to join the network and participate in it.

Dr. Lin shares, “I hope that the network will help highlight the important work that GMG faculty and folks from all over WashU are doing to help make health systems work better for older adults. This movement is important for the future of healthcare in America as a whole, as increasingly more and more of our population needs more patient-centered and age-friendly care.”

For WashU faculty interested in participating, there are no requirements; just anyone interested in research or age-friendly care. This quarter, AFHS will host upcoming webinars on caregiving, EMR use, equity, and more.
