Dr. Kenton Johnston, Associate Professor of Medicine, Associate Director of the Center for Health Services & Policy Research (CAHSPER), and Director of the Medicare Innovation Research Lab (Medicare IRL), presented at WashU’s Medicine Grand Rounds on Thursday, November 7th.
The talk titled, “Physician Participation in Medicare Value-Based Payment Models: What do the Latest Data Tell Us?“, discussed how physician participation plays a role in Medicare value-based payment models. With the rapid growth in Medicare Advantage, Accountable Care Relationships, and Medicare spending growing rapidly through 2030, Kenton’s Grand Rounds touched on three main points: (1) The Big Picture on Medicare, (2) Physician Value-Based Payment Models in Medicare, & (3) Physician Participation in Value-Based Payment Models.
“The Big Picture on Medicare” focused on an overview of Medicare while “Physician Value-Based Payment Models in Medicare” & “Physician Participation in Value-Based Payment Models” discussed various physician value-based payment models and physician participation with the specified payment models.
