Biography

As a seasoned medical informatics professional with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Cislo has dedicated his career to advancing healthcare through innovative technology solutions. Currently serving as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) at Barnes Jewish Hospital, he leads the strategic execution and optimization of electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring seamless integration across our healthcare network. Dr. Cislo’s training began at the University of Michigan with a BS in Biomedical Sciences and an MD degree. He completed a residency and chief residency at BJH and Washington University. As part of the founding core of four faculty for the division of hospital medicine, he began a career filled with opportunities for continuous system improvement. It also allowed him to join the division of Medical Education where he served as Associate Program Director for the IM residency for two decades of trainees. His journey in medical informatics began with a focus on leveraging data to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

Throughout his career, Dr. Cislo has spearheaded numerous EHR implementation projects, each designed to meet the unique needs of diverse healthcare environments. His expertise extends to the development and deployment of clinical support tools that empower clinicians with real-time, evidence-based information, facilitating more informed and efficient care delivery.
