Clinical Interests

Dr. Binder is passionate about improving the lives of older adults, and provides medical care in the inpatient, outpatient, and nursing home settings. She staffs a consultation clinic at the WU Older Adult Assessment Center, located at the Center for Advanced Medicine, which serves older adults that may have difficulty with memory, dementia, incontinence, medication issues, falls, nutrition problems, or depression. She provides primary care for nursing home patients residing at Parc Provence, and serves as Director of Acute Care Geriatric Services at Missouri Baptist Hospital.

Research Interests

Dr. Binder’s research interests focus on preventing physical frailty and cognitive decline in older adults, and improving outcomes after a hip fracture, primarily through exercise and hormone therapies. She has served as Principal Investigator for several clinical trials, and has conducted pioneering work demonstrating the effectiveness of intensive exercise in frail older adults and hip fracture patients, at improving functional recovery and quality of life.
