Barnes-Jewish Hospital Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, Associate Professor of Medicine

Katie Henderson, MD, is vice president and chief medical officer of Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She served as associate chief medical officer of Barnes-Jewish since 2008, and, in 2016, her role expanded to include executive director, Clinical Outcomes and Quality. During that time, Dr. Henderson led multiple safety and quality initiatives in collaboration with Washington University School of Medicine colleagues to provide exceptional care for our patients.

In her chief medical officer role, Dr. Henderson oversees Patient Safety & Quality, Clinical Analytics, Graduate Medical Education, Medical Staff Services, Clinical Effectiveness, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Pharmacy, Transplant Services and IT Operations. She is also an attending physician in the Barnes-Jewish Primary Care Medicine Clinic.

Dr. Henderson received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and joined the faculty of the Washington University Department of Medicine.
